How to Cope after Mouth Surgery

Mouth surgery is a great thing, but sometimes it leaves your mouth swollen and "fat" because it is numb. This can be a very embarrassing feeling for you even though nobody else notices.

Steps

  1. Prepare a comfortable spot. This may be in your home or wherever you plan on to spend the next day or two; preferably it should be a couch in front of a tv or maybe even a massaging chair.
  2. Have someone drive you straight home. Head directly to your already prepared comfortable spot.
  3. Have a phone handy. Friends and family may call to wish you to get well or to offer to provide you something to make you feel better.
  4. Eat soft foods such as jello-like (jelly-type) foods.
  5. Take the pain medicine prescribed by your doctor.
  6. Take plenty of pictures and videos. They will be fun to watch and laugh at later with your friends and family.
