How to Diagnose an Overbite

Wondering if you have an overbite? Here's an easy way to diagnose yourself.

Steps

  1. Close your mouth normally.
  2. Look in a mirror with your lips spread and your teeth exposed. If your upper row of teeth covers your lower row by more than half, you have an overbite.

Tips

  • Visit your dentist if you have concerns about your teeth or jaw.

Warnings

  • Always get second and third opinions if you're thinking about corrective surgery.
  • Be careful not to confuse this condition with buckteeth. This is when the upper and lower jaw align and the upper teeth stick out.
