How to Stop Fiddling With Your Braces
May 20,2007 00:00 by Happy

Playing with your braces can become a problem. You could cause damage to both your teeth and the expensive equipment in your mouth. Learn how to stop before something bad happens.

Steps

  1. Recognize the problem and the need to stop. Make sure in your head that you really want to stop fiddling. If you don't want to stop, then it is never going to work.
  2. Figure out where you fiddle with your braces most often. Is it while you are sitting down and watching TV? Is it while you are doing your homework? Keep all of these times in mind when trying to determine when you fiddle the most.
  3. Try to have something in your hand during the time that you fiddle the most, so as to distract yourself. If it is at school, you might try a piece of paper. At home, you might take hold of one of your pillows while watching TV. Choose anything that feels comfortable for you.

Tips

  • If you are very concerned about fiddling with your braces, seek advice from your parents. Make it clear that you want to stop fiddling.
