How to Temporarily Fix a Loose Wire on Your Braces
May 20,2007 00:00 by Happy

How to fix that stubborn loose wire on your braces until your orthodontist can fix it.

Steps

  1. Grab some dental wax. Your dentist or orthodontist will most likely provide you some if you ask. It should be about the size of a penny.
  2. Roll the wax between your pointer finger and thumb until it is soft.
  3. Get a piece of cotton and make the spot where the wire is loose as dry as possible.
  4. Place the ball of wax on the wire, and press on it to make it stick.

Tips

  • Take some pain reliever if you need to.
  • Call the orthodontist to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Warnings

  • Don't try to push the wire back in.
